Raúl Sánchez
Director of Impact Investments at Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarollo (COFIDES)
Raúl Sánchez considers himself a polymath, curious and restless traveler with more than 25 years of
international experience in innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, investment financing and sustainability. This experience has been acquired both in the private sector, in Banco Santander, Campus Party and OPINNO; public sector, in COFIDES, Las Rozas Innova and as an advisor in the cabinet of the Minister of Science and Innovation of the Government of Spain and Board Member of the Center for Industrial Technological Development CDTI, between 2008-2011; and multilateral in the Inter-American Development Bank and UN Habitat.
Raúl Sánchez is Director of Impact Investments at Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarollo (COFIDES) and responsible for the new Spanish Social Impact Fund (FIS) of 400 M EUR. He is a founding Business Angel investor of the COREAngels Madrid and member of the Board of the Center for Innovation in Technology for Development (ItD-UPM) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Throughout his professional career he has always been linked to the Academia at public and private universities. He holds a PhD in International Economics and Development and a Master’s degree in Law by the Complutense University of Madrid.

Spanish delegate and National contact point for Horizon Europe EIC & EIE.Innovation Policy Directorate. CDTI. Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities from Spain.
Luis has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and he has been working in R&D&I at European level since 2002.
He joined CDTI in 2007 and since then, Luis has worked as National Contact Point and Spanish Delegate for the different SME programs (Research for SMEs - VII Framework Program 2007-2014, SME instrument - Horizon 2020, 2014-2020 and EIC Accelerator - Horizon Europe, 2021-2027). As Spanish delegate, Luis has been negotiating with the European Commission and the rest of Member States the content of the work programs for these instruments. As National Contact Point, he supported hundreds of Spanish tech-based SMEs to access these competitive programs.
Apart from these two main tasks, Luis has not stopped writing proposals and executing European CSAs within CDTI (9 in total, 2 as coordinator). These projects have kept his user experience as participant updated, but also they have helped CDTI to develop and launch tools, service and programs towards Spanish companies (i.e. Spanish Welcome space for the EIC, mock interview program for the EIC accelerator, CDTI plug-in program, CDTI Seal of Excellence program...).
